Author
Jason Merchey – philosophical thinker,
author, speaker, and coaching consultant
was born in Los Angeles and raised in
Southern California.
Though an excellent, even precocious,
student as a child, family problems affected
him deeply and he went into an emotional
and intellectual hibernation. It was not
until college, when he stumbled across the
great thinkers, that he awakened to his life
and his purpose. He began to flourish as he
discovered his passion for philosophy and
wisdom to guide him through difficult
times. In Jason’s words, “Socrates saved me.”
Re-energized, Jason graduated with highest honors in Psychology& Social Behavior, followed by a Master’s
degree in Psychology. He enjoyed
studying the practical aspects of psychology, and was inducted
into Phi Beta
Kappa for liberal scholarship. Jason is proud of the fact that
this translates
to: Love of Wisdom: The Guide of Life.
During college, Jason attended classes and worked with abused
children
by day and in restaurants by night. He then moved to San Diego,
where he
has since been studying and practicing psychotherapy and family
therapy.
Two issues that interest him are family emotional process and
the search for
purpose and meaning in life.
Jason has always been intrigued by philosophical and existential
thought,
and ethics. His affinity for language, combined with strong,
progressive,
humanistic interests inspired him to research, collect, and
catalogue
quotations from thousands of notable writers, celebrities,
philosophers, and
politicians. His favorite quote is by Albert Einstein: “Understanding
the atom
is child’s play compared to the understanding of the
child’s play.”
Jason lives and plays with great passion. He is dedicated
to inspiring and
helping people create “a life of value” by bringing
the timeless wisdom of
great thinkers to life in books, lectures, and seminars. Jason
offers ideas and
methods for experiencing broader and deeper levels of thinking,
creating
greater awareness and fulfillment by discovering one’s
own values.
