Artist Laurel Burch passed away on September 13, 2007, due to complications from the rare bone disease, osteopetrosis. Despite her illness, Laurel surrounded herself with uplifting beauty, color and originality while maintaining a prolific work ethic. She said, “In our fast-paced, changing world, we need symbols that are a reminder of the ongoing world of the spirit.” She leaves behind a heritage of brightly colored and distinctive feline images that are known worldwide on scarves, handbags, mugs and aprons.
